Why Is My Hotmail Inbox So Mixed Up?

Two days ago my Hotmail inbox suddenly became completely mixed up. Message dates were all over the place, some from ten years ago appearing on the top. This is with both the Focused and Other files - but the Junk folder has everything in the correct date order.
This is the same on both my PC and a laptop. However, Hotmail inbox is working correctly on my phone.
Why, and what can I do?

My hotmail inbox has three headers: "from", "subject" and "received".
Click on where it says "received". If it has an arrow on it pointing down, it'll be arranged with the most recent emails first. If you click on it again, the arrow will now point up and your emails will be sorted with the oldest emails first .... and vice versa.
You will be able to see how your emails are being arranged, as there will only be one arrow in one of the headers and you'll be able to see if the list is in ascending or descending order by the direction of the arrow.
