stopping pop-ups

ive gone into the windows xp settings to disable the pop-ups but am still being plagued by them. anyone know why there still getting through and how i can stop them?

i'm on ntl broadband and am using msn as my home page.

maybe something to do with spyware.dl adaware or similar prog to remove all this rubbish running in the background.

are these just popups that you get when surfing the web?

if so, use firefox:

this browser is far better than internet explorer in so many ways. one of the best extensions for it is the ad blocker too,
