Wireless Dongle
6 Answers
Hi all
My daughter has dug out a dongle like device ( looks like a usb key but it's more stubby) that came with a Trust wireless mouse she used a few years back.
A friend of hers has a laptop with a knackered wireless card and she's asked if the Trust dongle is likely to work to receive the wireless signal from her router ie to take the place of the wireless card to get Internet on the laptop.
My own thoughts are that the Trust dongle is manufactured only to pick up the mouse broadcasting frequency but I'd like some idea as the devices are in separate households right now so I can't easily try them.
The Trust dongle looks identical to an Internet dongle and I've used one of the latter before with good results myself but I can't find it right now! The mouse dongle has "Trust" stamped on it.
Many thanks.

I replaced it with a dongle which had a 6-inch aerial attached and it works fine. The tiny one wasn't OK to pick up the signal - the router is about 30ft away and has a couple of brick walls in between it and the dongle. The aerial dongle was about £15 online.
