Hotmail Issues!

Apparently hotmail say ive used 7gb out of a 5gb account!!
How am i supposed to reduce this storage? ive got rid of all the attachments, but it hasnt made a lot of difference!
is there a simple solution to this?

There are two possibilities:

1. Some kind of spam, lots of times these say something like "you've used up free storage, click here for premium/to avoid your account being closed", and WHAMMO it's a virus/phishing/other bad thing.

2. Do you also have a lot of photographs stored somewhere -- is there a OneDrive folde? If it's legit, then I think the 7GB doesn't count only hotmail/outlook storage, but also stuff in a (free) OneDrive account. Lots of photos or videos would go towards this. Go to File Explorer, and check the bar on the left to see if there's a OneDrive, and if so what's in it.

piggy, top right, click on your picture and select "my microsoft account" then look at the storage you are using. This could be a phishing scam.

in the left hand column of my hotmail account, under all the folders, at the bottom you will see ´microsoft storage ´and under that in red writing it says ´ 7GB used of 5GB (140%)

In that case, it's likely, as I suggested, to be something to do with other parts of your Microsoft account, e.g. OneDrive. It takes a good deal of effort to get an email account to store 7 GB all on its own.

I´ve had a look at onedrive, and all i get is `settings couldnt load, refresh to try again ` ive have tried to refresh several times, without sucess!

thanx claretgold and the rest of you, i think ive sorted this silly issue out! onedrive was the culprit! so it seems!

One comon problem is that people tend to misuse onedrive. You don't need al the system files there just your personal ones.
