Gio Trio 11. Smart Meter Problem

I had the above smart meter fitted yesterday.
It worked fine all day.
This morning at 0700 hrs the screen was just black with message "waiting for data"
I checked "system status" and got message Status 23-1. connected to the meter network but not receiving data
also Status 28-2 same message.

Cannot get any sense out of edf. I tried removing batteries and re-inserting.
The smart meter is switched on at the socket which is only 3 ft from the electric meter. Anyone with any suggestions please

That is not the smart meter, it's the in-home display. It does not affect the smart meter so don't worry about that.
Have you tried pairing it again?

Oh, I see from the manual it is called the IHD. Barry thanks but what is "pairing " ?

Pairing means linking it to the actual meter. It should do this automatically but if it doesn't......
'Press and hold the power button on the back of your smart meter display to turn it on. To turn it off, press and hold the same button for five seconds. Each time you turn the smart meter display on, it will show 'Welcome to IHD2' then 'Attempting to pair'.'

Pair it with the meter so they start "communicating" again.

Unplug it, hold down the power button for 10 seconds, wait a minute, plug it back in. It might take a few minutes

Thanks barry and Zacs. I think I have found the power button at the back of the IHD (behind the " Geo flap"so will try and then get back to you)

I threw my in-home display in the bin and monitor my usage online, much easier

I think I will do the same as you Barry. I did not realise that it wasn't entirely necessary to use the IHD. I think at my old age, I am able to know when too many electric gadgets are on at the same time. Going out in the garden in the sun. I will let you know if the IHD starts working again ;-)

Ours has never given any useful information.

It doesn't send the gas meter reading either, so I have to brave the guard spiders in the meter box every month.

Surprise surprise ! I took the batteries out, disconnected the IHD from the socket and pulled a few weeds out in the garden. Came back indoors, made a cuppa, replaced the batteries and it is working ! I am one happy bunny . Thank you all x. Freya

There were some very useful things I learned since having my smart meter.
It is much, much cheaper to run my washing machine on a 40 degree cotton cycle than a 40 degree minimum iron cycle even though I can put a bigger load in the cotton wash.

It is a lot cheaper to use my dishwasher on the eco setting than standard even though it takes a lot longer.

I vaguely knew that from the manuals but seeing the difference in pounds and pence rammed home the message.

I also learned that committing the great sin of using the tumble dryer is nowhere near as expensive as I thought.

I always use the 40 degree Superquick wash,then dry the clothes in the conservatory where the heat is amazing at certain times. I Never use the tumble dryer now.
The dishwasher in this house is ME ;-)

Freya, the superquick cycle on my machine uses more energy than the cotton cycle and the washing comes out wetter, taking longer to dry.

Not all machines are the same, I strongly recommend that you look at your manual that should tell you how much energy each cycle takes.
My superquick cycle also has a small load capacity
