Boris’s latest wheeze trying to stop the covid inquiry obtaining his whatsapp messages is to claim that he has forgotten the password/code to his old iphone.

Perhaps Boris is unaware that the FBI know that Apple are able to overcome this problem, but in high profile legal cases have refused to do so, citing privacy concerns.

But since Boris has said on record that he is happy for the messages to be made available to the inquiry – all he (or the British government) has to do is ask Apple to unlock the phone.

This guy was the Prime Minister? And he was the only one who knew how to get into the phone, and he's forgotten it?

Yeah, right ...
It’s the government, not Boris who is prevaricating. Boris handed everything over. He has gone, and letting Rishi et al sort it.

My understanding is that Boris has handed the phone to his legal representatives (for safe keeping), and not the government.

Maybe close his bank account until he remembers.
Yawn ... this happened 1 month ago. It is Sunak who is trying to suppress the info. A forgotten password does not stop the funnies gaining access to an account believe me.

are you trying to say Boris is lying
My god man! He used to be Prime Minister and is an Etonian !
why not ask alexa?
have they tried "Odysseus"?
a sherpa / bag carrier has remembered it apparently

( part of the service that underlings give the Great and Good who rule us in Westminster)

Perhaps they could encourage the old porker with Turkish Delight:

Whatsapp is not device dependent. You can access the app on any phone, Apple or Google, old or new. Forgetting the phone passcode is irrelevent.
the government caved in on providing whatsapp messages and diaries etc. after the high court ruled against them… it is now boris johnson alone who is refusing hand over evidence

i suppose he might actually have forgotten the code but how can anyone actually tell? he lies so often that it is impossible really to trust anything that he says… let us not forget that he misled parliament and did so deliberately just as he has lied to many other employers, spouses, etc…. he’s not a person whose word can be trusted an anything at all
one imagine boris “accidentally” dropping it in the toilet while trying to remember the code and then “mistakenly” dropping a brick on it a few times ;)
HIGNFY on Facebook may have summed it up best.

Apparently the Cabinet Office has said that they have a record of the password/code for his old iphone.

I wonder what his next excuse for not handing over the phone will be?
i am not joking... i will not be surprised if he says he dropped it in the toilet or something
"My understanding is"
as usual you understand nothing....
If you know the information can be accessed why do you think he doesn’t know? Another load of nonsense from you.

If Boris knew Apple could access the Whatsapp messages on his phone without having the password/code – he would be a fool to state that the messages could not accessed because he did not know the password/code.
