The type that might be best for you though will depend upon
(a) the type of connection(s) available with your device (i.e. wired or Bluetooth) ;
(b) the type of sounds that you want to listen to. (For music you might want bass-heavy speakers but for listening to, say, speech radio you might prefer something which doesn't accentuate bass levels so much) ;
(c) whether or not you want noise-cancelling headphones (which are dearer than regular ones) ;
(d) where you'll be wearing them. (Lightweight ones might be best on the Tube, whereas something more solid might be better if you're simply sitting in an armchair at home) ; and
(e) your budget.
If wired headphones (rather than Bluetooth ones) might meet your needs, and you don't want to spend a fortune on them, I can thoroughly recommend these lightweight ones from Sony. (Indeed, all Sony headphones are well worth considering. They're always comfortable to wear for extended periods and provide excellent sound quality for their price range):

Your ears are very likely ringing because you have been exposing them to much too high a level of sound.
Hearing damage is cumulative and it is entirely possible that you have already contracted permanent tinnitus and you ears will ring for the rest of your life. There is no cure. If you don't have it already, continuing to expose your ears to high volume music will certainly bring on tinnitus within the near future.
I used to sing in a band and after one particularly loud night my ears were ringing in the morning and haven't stopped nearly seventeen years later.
It was extremely distressing for many years but I got used to it eventually.
