Hi, i moved in to newly built house recently. It has multiple data ports.

I have installed (correctly) 2 new ports in place of the blank plates.

Big question is what am i missing in order to make them live. I want to make a circuit to the internet which the fibre box is installed on the wall and an ethernet cable coming from that to the modem

Any advice would be appreciated

Your situation seems to require a bit of research. A "fiber media converter" is required which may be the fiber box you are referring to. Contacting your internet provider may also be necessary.

According to your description, a normal household internet connection may be all you need. This involves installing a router between the modem and the ethernet ports.  To get yourself up to speed quickly on this, you may find a YouTube search to be highly valuable.

Wired Ethernet – haven’t you discovered wi-fi?

Yes. The way the internet was set up i can only have the modem in one spot. This means the wireless is quite weak. Also you will not typically get the peak performance through wireless anyway.
