Can someone please tell me what DirectX is and what do I need it for? Thanks

Direct X is some free software from Microsoft that is used by people who write games to make better use of the PCs hardware.

Your PC may already have it installed, and many games and other programs do ship with it.

You can download it from the Microsoft web site.
