Problem With Correct Size Photos From My Hp Printer - Help Please!

I have been taking photos on my digital camera and printing them on my new HP printer for ages but I recently received a photo via email and whatever I do I cannot get it the correct size for a frame! It says it is a jpeg photo and I saved it to my docs and went into my printer as usual and chose portrait as it was a portrait and not landscape and selected main tray -Paper size A4 - paper type Glossy phot paper - photo size from drop down list 7x5 inches - then finally shrink to fit..... but it comes out as tall and thin about 6.5"x 4"

It was taken I am told on an Apple phone. This is first time I have had this problem - but I usually only print my own photos and they also are jpeg! When I saved it from the email by rt clicking the actual photo and 'save' did I do something wrong at that  stage?

There should be an option somewhere to maintain the photo aspect ratio – which should fix this problem.

Yes - thank you for that.  I had to adjust the pixel to apect ratio - somewhat complicated but I got the photo to correct size
