Sky Plus Problems

We had Sky Plus installed about a month ago. Everything has been fine until this weekend when the remote would not work and the Sky Plus kept sticking on one channel. My girlfreind contacted Sky and they took her through a series of checks and gave her numerous things to do with the remote like inputting codes etc. Eventually the guy on the other end of the phone just said it was our TV !! Now i find this hard to believe, we have a Panasonic 32" widescreen TV and it is only 3 years old. Could it be the TV or is Sky trying to palm us off?? Cheers.

Have you tried turning off the Sky Plus box at the mains socket for 30 seconds, and then turning it on again. This makes the box reset itself, which may take a little while, and usually cures problems like the one you describe.

Robert G's suggestion is good, but there's another simple one that's often overlooked - check the batteries in the remote (admittedly, if it was installed so recently they should be sound, but you never know til you check).

I had the same thing last weekend. I just re-booted (switched of then on after 30 secs) and mine was fine.

this hapens loads to us, we have only had sky pluss for a month or so. If its the same thing when you try to use the remote the red light just flashes. I just take the batteries out of the remote and put them back in again. usually works.

Im very unimpressed with sky pluss.

Do you have any Energy Saving lightbulbs in the same room?

Don't laugh. They can interfere with the infra-red signal from remote control handsets.

We have Sky plus which we love. But every so often it gets its knickers in a twist and needs switching off at the plug not the box for about 30 seconds and it is fine again.
