I have an appointment for the jab in a couple of weeks, I had never heard of it bofore either.

I've just rung our surgery to find out more about this but there was no one available as all the doctors are seeing patients. Receptionist knew about the vaccine but didn't know any details so I'll ring back at the end of the week.

I believe it's only just been approved and rolled out. As far as I can see, it's for people over 75 and those with a dodgy immune system, heart problems, or lung problems.

Just booked our flu jabs though, 1st October.

OH has his appointment for Monday. Neither of us had heard about it before.

Well, we've not been offered it yet, but I'll be checking exactly what it is.  Last I heard, there was a developed combined 'flu/covid vaccine due to come on line this year.

We will have to refuse if that is the case with this new Rvs - and I've had 'flu vaccinations for over 30 years (prone to chest problems).

I suggest that you ask what it is before having it.

All adults turning 75 years old on or after 1 September 2024 will be eligible for the routine programme and should be offered a single dose of the RSV vaccine on or after their 75th birthday. A one-off catch-up campaign for those already aged 75 to 79 years old on 1 September 2024 should be undertaken at the earliest opportunity with the aim of completing the majority by 31 August 2025. To offer the best protection, we are asking systems and providers to vaccinate as many people as possible during September and October 2024 prior to the expected RSV season. In line with JCVIguidance, individuals will remain eligible until the day before their 80th birthday, with the exception of people who turn 80 in the first year who have until 31 August 2025 to get vaccinated.

This campaign will be commissioned from general practice as an essential service, starting from 1 September 2024. In addition, NHS England (NHSE) will be commissioning a number of community pharmacies to deliver the programme. Further details will be shared in due course.

Thanks calmck - I'll wait for the details.  OH was one of those who was yellow-carded and photographed officially after the original Covid vaccine.  Neither of us is risking that again.

Under 75 but with asthma and weakened immune system... I will take it if offered.   I am prone to getting partial lung collapses with infections and anything that reduces that risk is worth it.

Me too, Rowan, and OH. Never had any problems with any vaccine so will take whatever is offered and be glad of it. I'm sure I'd feel differently though if I'd had a seriously bad reaction to any.

yes - good

is this thread REALLY about a  gubmint program ( vaccinate everything that moves or breathes) and the question. if I have the gubmint jab am I gonna DDDIIIIIIIEEEEEE?

looks like it- where is  Mrs Cheese ( "we now  have several billion Covid reactions  recorded")

er we dont by the way
