If you're using Intenet Explorer, go to the 'file' option, select 'import & export' and follow the instruction to export favourites and then copy/backup the resulting file to whatever medium suits you best. Should you ever need to you can then import them in the same way.
The folder is usually located under
C:\DocumentsandSettings\*YourUserName*\Favourites
You can just back this up, and in the event of something going wrong, copy it back into the same location once your 'puter is up and running again.

contact aol for more advice or search for a favourites folder on the c drive of your pc.

you will invariably see the one in docs and settings but a search may throw up a second under an aol folder or some such !
