I recently purchased a DAB radio and quite often listen to a station called "Life". Apart from playing good music there are no commercials. How does it pay its way?

No idea, there may be some sort of pay to play method where record companies pay the station to play the records.

I assume there are no presenters either ? If so it's would be fairly cheap to broadcast in this way, there would be no need for studios etc or paying wages to presenters editors etc etc.
