iPod Nano

I probably doing something very silly but I want to be able to choose the songs in my Library manually.In the Manual it says to go to iTunes and select iPod Nano from the "source"list - but I haven't got that on my source list.Could somebody please advise me in easy words how I can do this ?

plug your iPod in. it'll appear on the left, like it normally does when it syncs your songs.

click your iPod so that it shows you the songs on it, and at the bottom-right there will be a button with the iPod icon in it; click on it, and you can choose manual configuration.
