Hi AB'ers, a friend of mine has a Dell printer/scanner/copier. His black cartridge has been refilled but still shows up on screen as empty and won't print. It may be that it has blocked up due to being left empty too long, however, if it is a chipped cartridge with a built in "you can't refill me you gotta buy a new one!" set up, if you know what I mean, can it be defeated some way? Hope you can help... thanx.

i hav to tell mine its a new cartridge when i refill, then it works, tho its laxmark not a dell, but maybe might work,

good luck

try wiping the 'foil' bit on the cartridge with some cleaning fluid, to remove any dried residue
remove the cartridge and then put it back in. The printer should recognise this as a cartridge replacement. works on Epson, so not sure if it will work on urs
