Anti virus etc.

Hi, apologies if we're going over old ground but I'm an IT numpty.Can someone tell me what sort of protection I need to install.
I have McAfee (as a free trial), I've also downloaded AVG and Adaware as has been suggested on here previously.
Do I need anything else or am I just duplicating things?

Never run 2 Anti-virus products together, you will find your computer doesn't run well.

I'd add to the above Spybot S+D, Microsoft's Antispyware and maybe even 'SpywareBlaster'.

And Firefox ;-)

unless you download some dodgy things, you shouldn't need more than one spyware utility. i only run adaware, and never get spyware.

but steve's tip for firefox is an excellent one. download it, and stop using internet explorer (except for the badly designed sites that require it):

Get F-Secure, its got the lot in one package, anti virus, anti spam, anti spy ware, plus a firewall. Its automatically updated to keep up with new threats, and I know from experience that it works! (Much better than Norton). One package, job done.

once the others are ready to be installed, uninstall mcaffee first (and restart computer).
