I have just set up an ADSL wireless router which I set up using my laptop through the ethernet cable. I then managed to connect to the internet wirelessly through my laptop.

The problem I'm having is now connecting my daughters pc to the wireless router. I have installed a wireless card into the pc and it is showing a good connection but I don't seem to be able to connect to web page and can't find a way to configure the card.

What operating system is on the second PC?

Both laptop and pc are running Windows XP. Thanks for the interest

By default network adapters under Windows XP are set to get an IP address automatically.

On your laptop, click start, run then type cmd and press enter.

At the prompt, type "ipconfig /all" the IP address for the wireless adapter should be something like 192.168.1.x.

Repeat for the PC. If the IP addresses are similar, and you can't get web pages on the PC, run internet explorer, go to tools, internet options, connections, lan settings and select automatically detect settings. Close and re run internet explorer

Hope this helps, if not post a follow up.

Thanks for your help. Still having no luck. The icons in my start up tray say I'm connected and with a good connection but still no web page. Do i somehow have to tell the router that i wish to allow another pc apart from my laptop to use its services? I thought these things were easy setup or is it just me
