Not being very knowledgeable with computers and having Spanish Windows XP makes it more difficult. Basically when I go to open or download certain things that people have sent me, piccies and moving things sometimes it says " cannot unload this file" "No puede descargar este achivo" I think that's the translation. Is there something I can do to make it open these thingies. When i tried to download a newer version of Java it would not do it. Any help appreciated, Thanks.

Netibiza, I think it should be "cannot download this file"? I need a little more information - what email do you use? Hotmail? If it is Hotmail (or something similar) then it's probably the security settings on Internet Explorer which are the problem. You can try the following:

"In Internet Explorer, go to Tools > Internet Options > Security > Internet(will be highlighted) > Custom Level. Make sure Medium is selected in the window and click Reset and the OK/Apply yourself out. "

I got this solution from http://www.winguides.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=secwinnt&Number=138684&page=0&view=expanded&sb=5&part=

It should be something similar in Spanish!

Thanks TartanTiger - seems a bit complicated so will take my time doing it. My email is Yahoo but daughter has Hotmail - does it really make a difference. She thinks it's because of Norton Anti-virus - is this possible.

Hi Netibiza, I was wondering if you were using Microsoft Outlook/Outlook Express or Hotmail/Yahoo. As it is the latter then I would have thought it is the security settings in Internet Explorer. So, I'd try the bit in my last post (Click Tools, then click Internet Options etc.) It will be a little different in Spanish but can't be too different!

Yes, it could also be Norton Anti-virus - difficult to tell which it is - when the Spanish error message appears is there any mention of Norton? I don't use Norton (someone else may be able to help here) but I'd try the following if the error message mentions Norton:

In the bottom right corner of the screen there should be a little Norton symbol - if you can find it, right click on it. A box should appear and one of the options may be 'Properties' - click on this. Then look for something like 'Prevent files from being downloaded'.

Let me know how you go....
