They make brilliant new-wave upbeat music that irresistibly danceable. Female vocals, which I know put a lot people off, but she has a gorgeous strong voice that's almost creamy. Mmm, lovely.
I did a couple of YouSendIts of some of their stuff for a few friends of mine, worth checking out if you're interested by my description/what you hear on their site. Wet Blanket is off Old World Underground, Where Are You Now? and Patriarch on a Vespa is from Live It Out.
I'm not sure why, but I have a feeling that if you like Bloc Party and Ladytron and stuff like that, then you'll like this.
More coming soon.
good shout on the elbow album, bloody marvelous. its worth digging out there first album as well "Asleep in the Back"
Also Stephen Fretwell's "Magpie" is fantastic. It puts all the other lightwieght acoustic strummers (jack johnson, the hugely irritating James Blunt) in the shade.
Also, give the hard fi album a go. Not reinventing the wheel or anything but great fun none the less.
Cheers
More recent:
Foo Fighters' newie - 'In Your Honour'
Magic Numbers album is great.
'Lullabys to Paralyse' - Queens of the Stone Age
'Violence, Sex. Other?' - Stereophonics
Yes yes YES to Arcade Fire, but for God's sake not the Karsi Chiefs!
Starsailor's newest isn't that great actually, but for the love of god buy their first album 'Love is Here' if you haven't already.
You could do worse than U2's latest - seriously, it is a cracking return to form.
'Hot Fuss' - The Killers
'Absolution' - Muse
'Love is Hell' - Ryan Adams
'Free All Angels' - Ash
(Some of these are going back a few yrs)
And if we're talking classics - Jeff Buckley
