Ink leak on laptop screen

My boyfriend (foolishly!) picked his laptop up by the screen it now has, what looks like an ink splodge at the top about the size of a thumbprint and now there is a 4inch long ink streak running down the screen....it all still works but, will it vanish after time as some of it seems to have gone or is there anything we can do to fix it?

I'm afraid to say that I reckon you are looking at a new screen. Sounds like the screen has been over-stressed and the fluid sandwiched in the layers of the screen have leaked.

This is nasty stuff - toxic so be careful. It is generally not economically viable to have a laptop screen replaced unless it's a very new laptop or you can source the parts cheaply and repair it yourself.

And no the mark will not disappear.
