Hi all,

can anyone recommend a good make of webcam (not to expensive though, but something that will still do a good job). My parents are moving abroard (its alright for some) and we thought webcams could be a good way of keeping touch more cheaply than half hour phone calls.

think about skype; it's free calls between skype users, so you could chat for hours!

as for webcams: I hear logitech are a good brand for them.

You'll be able to have proper voice chats for as long as you like - free!

Can I suggest you buy a cheap and basic webcam to start with, and with experience you'll know what you want out of a webcam so can be more choosy - you'll know what to look for.

You can easily buy one for under �10 - and there might be a buy one, get one free offer.

Also - some digital cameras can operate as a webcam. If you have one, check for this facility.

Yes, Logitech are quite good - and some are quite cheap. I can recommend the Qickcam Messenger which has a microphone built-in. Have a look here:-
