I need help, Im running Windows ME, and Ive set up a home network , my son`s computer is XP. The problem is ( and Im no expert ) when he searches for my pc, a message comes up asking " PC is not accessible. You might not have permission to use the network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The network path was not found." they are the actual words written. Few things to try.

You must make sure that each PC has the userid and password registered of the user of the other PC.

Suppose you are userid TONY password TONYPW on ME and he is userid CHILD password CHILDPW on XP.

You must set up a userid on ME of CHILD / CHILDPW and on XP of TONY / TONYPW.

Also make sure there is a shared folder on each PC.

Also make sure that both machines are in the same Windows Workgroup.

Also make sure the firewall on each machine is set up to allow access from the other PC.

After making all these changes shutdown and restart both PCs.

If that does not work come back and we will try again to help.
