depends if they provided you with it. Most people use a seperate provider for email, (hotmail for example) so that they are not tied down to just one ISP...

thanks for your quick reply, yes i am afraid i am tied in then its tesco. ill have to try and sign up with hotmail or something. not sure on how to go about it though.
I was in this situation a while back.

When I decided I was going to switch I opened a free gmail account. During the month's notice I had to give I changed email details on all the relevant accounts.

This meant that nothing had to be done in a day, I could make sure I had remembered every site that required action for the change and I could notify everyone who needed to know.

Gmail is web based so can be accessed from any computer in the world, and the address will stay with me, regardless of internet provider.

I still use gmail - I love it.
Ive had to do this before. Just set up an account with Yahoo, Hotmail, Myway or any of the free e-mail providers. www.yahoo.co.uk is probably easiest, just click on e-mail at the top and you can set up an account.

Then e-mail all of your contacts from your Tesco address with a link to the new one advising them of your new e-mail and to mark it as Not Spam if necessary on their e-mail.

As soon as you cancel with your ISP you wont be able to get access to any e-mails so forward any existing links or messages in your tesco inbox that you want to keep to your new one before cancelling.
Yeah, GMail rocks.
Or of course you could have an independent webmail account. Try www.metacrawler.com & then Go2net mail - you get 3mb free space and it's nice & fast.
gmail is not as good as it looks. You do realise google keep records of your emails don't you... I have a gmail account but try not to use it for this exact reason...
