I have tried contacting the site operator and have yet to hear from them. Can someone please clarify finally whether when contacting a listed member, the message goes straight to their email inbox, or is only received as and when they access the site?

It goes into their email account.... but not directly it goes to FreindsReunited who then pass it on.

ive had 2 emails thru friends reunited :-

1 went straight to my email account but the other stayed in my friends reunited inbox which i didnt visit for months !

This is the info I received from Friends when I joined (and I haven't paid the subscription):

Contacting old friends - your email address is never revealed
Messages you receive will appear on your homepage on the site - which is always protected by your password. When you receive a message, we'll send an alert to s*******.***@tiscali.co.uk.

I signed up 5 years ago. At first they sent the message to your email address but this has changed. They now email you that you have a new mail and you need to log in to the site to view the message.
