Best laptop for under �500

What in everyones opinion is the best laptop for under �500?

I will be using it for internet browsing, and general document work, photo editing.

Must be over 1.5 ghz, / 512 ram / over 40g hd

Since I hate all that is DELL - at least their support anyway - I would say staying away from them. Otherwise I would strongly suggest you read reviews from publications such as PC Pro and Computer Shopper. (www.pcpro.co.uk, www.computershopper.co.uk).

Always sound impartial advice - although they sometimes recommend DELL :) lol

Have a look at PCPro magazine just on the newsstands - 10 top brands reviewed. A fiver could save you some money (and heartbreak) plus there's lots of software on the DVD.
