Printer and connection problems

Up until yesterday, everything was fine, but now, my printer won't work off the computer, on or offline, I tried reinstalling it, but I get a message that says 'System file isn't suitable for running Ms-Dos and Microsoft applications', can anybody explain possibly whats happened, and a solution please?. I run Windows XP SP2, and the printeris a Lexmark X1130. thanks.
