Whether or not you can do this depends upon the graphics card you have installed in your laptop. Right-click on the desktop and click 'Properties..." to bring up the display properties. Go to the "Settings" tab, and click "Advanced". If your graphics card supports rotation, the setting will be somewhere in here.
For example, for my ATI Mobility Radeon X300, there is a "Rotation" tab in the advanced settings, which allows me to rotate the screen by 90 degrees left/right or by 180 degrees, and also to set Hotkeys to do the same.
