Hi everyone,

I have just received a payment (I think) through someone who bought something off ebay. It is showing in my account as "BP" (instead of TRF for transfer) What is BP? Also, he is with First Direct and I'm HSBC, basically, if its showing it's in, is it definately in!? Am I safe to post the item to him knowing I definitely have the money?

Thanks!

i think HSBC owns first direct so if you contact your bank they should tell you - it will still take 4 days to clear (so much for electronic instant banking)

If its been transferred electronically it is already cleared. If he paid a cheque in to your account then it will still have to clear. Phone your bank (good luck!!) and ask them if there are any uncleared funds in your account.

BP stands for BillPoint, which is a service much like PayPal
