Virus on Computer
The following message was displayed:
Virus identified Java/Open Stream (written in red)
File javainstaller.jar-3c936701-1ce1c0ec.zip
In status column it said
Infected, Embedded object
Infected, Archive
It doesnt say what I should do. The computer seems to be running okay, not slow or freezing, or anything like that. If I did nothing, would the computer eventually pack up? Can anyone advise me what to do please? Thanks.

Firstly, empty your recycle bin, delete all your temporary internet folders, cache and cookies.
Run the test again.
Good luck.
I did a search and found a temporary internet folder, when I opened it there was nothing in it, but I deleted the whole thing anyway. Hope I did the right thing there. I am sure you have guessed, I am completely hopeless on the computer, usually my hubby would sort this type of thing out, but he isnt here at the moment.
Thanks.
hi chappie, if you right click on your internet explorer icon and click properties a dialogue box comes up with the option to delete cookies and delete files. If you click delete files another box comes up asking if you want to delete all the offline content, you can okay this and clear it all. (If you have auto log in on sites and clear all your cookies you will also clear the cookies that keep you logged into sites and will have to log in as normal next time you visit them)
I think I remenber that an older version of Java would store .JRE files which some AV's would pick up as a possible virus. It was a false positive
The solution was to open the JAVA application and clear the cache. There was also a tick box you could place a tick in to stop any further .JRE files being stored. The problem would then be solved.
Sorry I can't be of much help but the version I run doesn't do this.

Once you have doen the above put a tick in the checkbox to ensure no further ones are stored.
