Not unless it's a multi-region player. DVD's bought in the UK are Region 2, whereas Australia are Region 4.

Thanks Cactus! Is there a site/link you could give me with a map or list of the countries in the regions?
www.richersounds.com do a multi-region machine for 70, and it's not bad either...
Sure aimee, this page has a map: http://www.dvdadept.com/DVD_Regions.asp the various regions are colour coded. One thing to beware of; some more recent DVD releases include something called "RCE" (which i believe stands for Regional Coding Enhancement) which some multi-region players can't play. If you buy a multi-region player, and it can't cope with "RCE" discs, then you have to be careful which DVDs you buy. It should say on the case somewhere if it's an RCE disc, but i guess that's not much help if you're buying via the internet. Hope this is of some use to you. Cactus.
Duh! I read down the page of that link i gave you and it explains RCE! (Note to self: Read before you type!)
F u c k no! Even the parasite Elisabeth II reigns Australia, Region lock is a thing for the greedies.
