PC Blackouts

My laptop has just developed a strange problem. The screen will suddenly go 'blank' and then appear to burn out (although there's always a black horizontal line across the screen, but in different places). If I switch off, leave it a while and come back on, all is fine as if nothing is wrong, but it seems as though I can't be on here longer than 45 mins without these blackouts.

I've 'cleaned' the system (I've used Ultra WinClean One Click) and used AVG to scan the system for any virus's, none found, so does anyone have any idea what is going on, why this is happening and is it terminal?

Many thanks

Sounds to me like your monitor is on its way out. See if you can use a different one and see how that goes before you buy a new one. But something tells me that will need a new one.
