How do you get your pc to do it please?

Depends on your OS but usually go to start/shutdown. You then have a number of choices on the drop down, one of which is hibernate.

Open Power Options in Control Panel.
Click the Hibernate tab, select the Enable hibernate support check box, and then click Apply.
If the Hibernate tab is unavailable, your computer does not support this feature.

And then when you go to shutdown, if the option isn't there, press H on the keyboard and it should start fattening up for the winter sleep.

Put it in a box with some straw, and leave it in the back of a warm cupboard until spring.

If you have XP when you have clicked start - turn off your computer hold down the shift key.
