The Windows 'open' box.

Whenever I either try to open a file within an application or attach a file in Outlook express from the desktop, the "Open" box that contains my desktop contents is never sorted by 'modified'. i.e the last file I placed on the desktop being the last in the 'open' box.

My desktop is arranged by 'modified' as default. So does anyone know how I make the files appear in the 'open' box appear by modified as the norm. As I have a l a lot of files on my desktop, it's really annoying having to trawl through trying to find the file I want.
