Can anyone help me with my 'Gremlings'?

Symtoms so far.. Symantec 'Liveupdate' refuses to automaticly update, My 'Internet time' has to be syncronised manually everytime I connect, Windows Media player 'stutters' like a scratched CD, Can not update Ad-Aware and My Internet 'quick access history' has been erased (allthough able to search for sites visited). Oh.. And I quite often have to use 'Last good configuration' to stop it from continiously re-starting when I switch on.

Help?.. I've ran out of ideas. Scanned and cleaned up as best as I know how.

Hmm - you could always try a System Rollback. I'm assuming you're using Windows XP, in which the feature is a part of the package.

If you're using an older version of Windows, you can always get some Rollback software from the net. These programs let you return your computer to a previous state, restoring data and sometimes files.

Best of luck. Definitely make a back up on cds/dvds before doing a rollback though.

I'd really consider doing a backup and complete reinstall of Windows as I think your registry is damaged, possibly beyond repair.

Before you go that far though, try http://www.ccleaner.com/ and download and run the Crap Cleaner. It may be enough to help your PC back on the road to recovery, but I have to say I doubt it. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice guys.. I did a 'system restore' allready ( if that's what you meant marcsmojo).. Didn't help.

I didn't use the 'ccleaner' but there's a registry repair program on that page that I tried. It listed over 300 programs 'not found' in my registry. It removes the first 15 for free but you pay for the rest. I can see an improvement allready. Being honest.. I had never heard of a registry before but I know the importance of keeping it tidy now.. Cheers again.
