I dont have an active phone line, how do i get sky tv? Any answers would be appreciated.

Get sky through a contractor, rather than one of the sky engineers - they won't care. I did it this way, don't have a phone line to my house at all!

How the hell do you use the internet if you dont hav a phone line, unless of course you use an external pc.

Well sky Tv comes from a satellite... you only need the phone line for quick ordering movies or stuff from the interactive menu - but its crap anyway.

Why do sky tell you to keep your box connected to a phone line at all times? i disconnected mine because it made my phone go all crackly and they sent me a letter threatening to turn my sky off if i didnt reconnect it to a phone line. So my question is to whickerman - how come sky haven't pulled you up about not being connected to a phone line? are you not subscribed through sky? i must say, am a bit confused by this.

Hi I have sky tv and dont have it connected to a phone line.
In your sky contract you only need it connected to a line for the first 12 months.

The reason is, when you book any type of movie on box office or one of those pay per night porn channels the information is actually stored on your viewing card first, then at a later time your viewing box actually rings out in the middle of the night sending the information to sky down your phone line, what you have watched. There is also your viewing habbits and what channels you watch the most - like a marketing thing

In my case I never had it connected to a phone line as I didn't have one. At the time, they were really pushing sales in Ireland and weren't going to turn down a premium sale for such a small thing - (I was getting the whole package). That said, most people just unplug the line anyway, and claim they must have a faulty line when sky calls - they never follow it up

all you have to do phone sky and ask for the no phone connection option. you have to pay a 1 off "no connection charge" of �25.00 - and then they activate your card from there end.
