I shall be away for about eight weeks and not sure whether to completely isolate my PC, i.e. pull the plug or just switch off and leave in the normal way. Any advice please.

Pull all the plugs. Prevents any sort of possible electrical faults from occuring.
i unplug my pc everynight, just incase of a power surge or lightining strike that may damage the CPU.
If you're going to be away for a length of time, it's a good idea to disconnect all electrical appliances that won't actually be in use - not just the computer, but TV, washing machine, etc. If the fridge is empty, disconnect and defrost it, and leave it with the door wedged slightly open. Also leave the washing machine slightly ajar.
