How Do I Stop Someone Creating Bogus Emails on My Website?

I have a problem where people are being sent SPAM emails using fictitious names @kingart.co.uk (my website address). As the owner of the website I am getting blamed for these bogus emails. Does anyone know how I can stop these email addresses being created?

This is the beatury of email. Anyone can fake their email address. A major flaw in the system which I'd have thought would have been ironed out by now. If it was ironed out, spam would be reduced considerably. Bunch of amateurs these internet guys ;o)

What you can do is get a hold of a copy of the emails and hopefully (though this can be masked too with anonymisers) you will be able to trace back to the originating IP address (in Outlook, right click a message and select Options.. in Internet Headers is a trace of all the SMTP servers the message has travelled through).

If you can trace it back to an IP.... umm... not sure what to do then. Inform the ISP of the offending IP that they are spamming. As far as I know, it's up to the ISP whether they ban the account that is doing the spamming.

I can't help directly, but if you go to the website of Computeractive magazine, sign in and then post your question in the appropriate forum you should get lots of useful advice.I had a serious problem recently with someone libelling me on her website, and the Computeractive readers helped me sort it out.Another thing you could try is a program called SamSpade, which helps you find out a lot about service providers, webmasters, etc. Look it up in Google. Good luck.
