Noisy DVD Player

I have a Matsui DVD225 which has always worked perfectly but in the last week has started making noise when playing dvds. It make a slight noise every few minutes which sounds like the disc spinning inside the player. Initially I thought it might be the disc but I have tried several discs and it keeps making noise. Is there anything I can do to prevent this?

does the DVD freeze when the noise is being made ?

If so it sounds like the motor inside the DVD player is going and sadly the only fix is to buy a new DVD player.
