How to transfer audio cassette to cd?

I am aware that latest cd/cassette players do have USB Port > I wonder is that to do with transfer cassette to PC?

Please help as I dearly would like to transfer my cassettes to CD. Any tip > thanks

Hi..First you need a good tape player with RCA/Phono Audio Out's (pref with Dolby NR) and some wave editing software on your PC (Audacity is a good FREE wave editor) Then you need to plug your tape deck into your PC. If your tape deck has RCA/Phono outs then you will need an RCA/2xPhono - 3.5mm Stereo lead. You can pick these up from Argos (cat no: 534/3638 �6.99) If your tape deck hasn't got RCA out's then you can use the head phone socket but you will need a 3.5mm stereo - 3.5mm stereo lead (you can pick these up at any good TV/HiFi shop) If your tape deck uses the bigger 6.3mm head phone socket then you cam pick up adapter's to fit the 3.5mm smaller ones. Ok.....now to need to plug which ever lead you have in to the Line In socket on your PC.

Once you plug the lead in to your PC you need to set up the sound recording options on your PC. Go to the "show hidden icons" button on the bottom right of your screen (near the clock) and right click on the little speaker. Select "open volume control" In the new window make sure Line In is not muted (un-ticked) Then select "properties" from the options. Click "recording and put a tick in ALL the box's then click ok. You'll go back to the other window but it should now say "recording control" Now tick the box under "line in" This will now sey the PC to record from your Line In Socket. Shrink the window down (don't close it as you might need to adjust the recording volume) and test the set up. Make sure everything is set hooked up and put a tape in your tape player and turn the volume down on your tape deck and PC. Press play on the tape deck and bring the volume up on your PC (if you are recording from the headphone socket then bring the tape deck volume up slowly) You should hear the tape comming through your PC. You can now open your wave editor and record to audio from your tape deck and save it on your PC. Use the "recording control" window to adjust the in comming levels so they are not too loud and cause "clipping" or distortion. OK i hope this helps. Any more questions then feel free to ask!!!

But slight problem to connect to PC may I need to right cable for connection- thanks
