how do you unlock phones?

my phone is a phillips 355 and on the virgin network but i want to put an orange sim in. how do i do this? When i put the orange sim in it asks for a spec number?

You have to have specialist software, most people down markets do.

There are also specialist websites where you can download the unlocker software.
