Hi, we currently have tiscali broadband....our flatmate has recently moved out and as the phone bill was in her name, we need to cancel (apparently) just to get her name off the bill. Which also means we have to cancel our internet. This could take 20 days to re-connect. This is a bit inconvienient, as I need the internet more than ever at the moment. Does anyone have suggestions as what to do? Do we really need to cancel the whole phone contract just to change a name?

I'd say that's correct. I used to work for BT, so it's probably a similar process - the phone account has to stop in order to generate a final bill in your flatmate's name. Although the phone line can then be restarted seconds later in your name, the BroadBand is a little more complicated and can't be reconnected immediately.

Unfortunately I don't think there are any ways to get around this one :(
