Why is my PC on a go slow

I am useless with anything computers and my husband who would normally sort any problems out is working away at the moment.

We have Broadband with Wanadoo and since last week its been on a complete go slow and I really don't know why.

Its taking me 15 mins just to be able to read my emails, visiting other sites (such as this) is slightly quicker but still far to slow.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what is wrong. Nothing has been changed to the PC, it just seemed to happen over night.

Any ideas please.

Have you done a virus scan and spyware scan?

Hello, I'm on Wanadoo Broadband as well & my email just stopped working this lunch time. I've been through to the wanadoo technical help line & I am told that the email server is currently having problems with Outloook express & Mail (an Apple Mac mail appn) & it's being worked on.

There will be more competent people than me who will answer this but I do know that if you allow your emails to build up instead of deleting them they will slow your computer down. Have you downloaded a large programme lately cos that won't help if your inbuilt virtual memory (RAM) is low, say 128 instead of 512. Also if people are sending you picture attachments that have not been resized then they really can take a long time to download.

I had same probs yesterday, am also with Wanadon't, couldn't even get to e mails. but everything is fine today. Have you tried turning computer off then on again ? good luck :-)
