On Windows Xp I've changed the settings to Always Hide the Local Area Network symbol on the Tool bar, but when I restart my computer it changes back to the default setting of Hide when inactive. Can anybody help?

Thats Xp for you. Im trying to update some drivers but when XP loads it goes - I've found the old drivers and installs them for me. XP doesnt like to be changed once its set up and will always goes back to how it was at the start. In XP trying to be helpful - its not helpful at all. Im changing to 2K ASAP.
did you know that by purchasing an XP license you are allowed to downgrade the operating system back to Windows2000, Windows NT or windows 9x? (i agree - windows XP is pooey, change your operating system)
Windows 2000 a downgrade? That's fighting talk!
tee hee. OK side-grade then (cross-grade? lateral-grade?...)

I thought the web site was called ANSWERBANK not Chat bank!
OK I've been playing and have cured it using the following: right-click the task bar then select "Properties", untick the "Lock the Taskbar" box, "Apply", "Customize..." make the behaviour for the LAN icon "Always Hide", OK this, "Apply" then re-tick the "Lock the Taskbar" box. I have re-booted several times and the behaviour sticks. Now back to chat, what was I saying...
dunno but we got a telling off then didn't we? we did answer the question though... (in fact two alternative answers)

Sorry J2buttonsw, unlocking and locking the taskbar still doesn't work.
OK, I've also got it to work by leaving the "Lock the Taskbar" unchecked. If it still does not work I recommend re-installing the OS because something is not right.
Just a routine question - have you installed the latest service pack for XP? I was having trouble getting my PC and PDA talking until I loaded the service pack and then Bingo! no problem..........
