White pc screen

Help please. When I've been on the pc for a short time, merrily opening and closing various web sites (as you do) the screen opens up empty white pages.I then have to close everything down and start afresh. Why?, and how can I stop it from being a nuisance?. This novice thanks in advance.

Had a similar situation when someone was trying to access secure pages in Internet Explorer, couldn't fix it so got them using Firefox instead, available from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/
