I cannot copy songs to a blank cd, whether from my hard drive or direct from a disk. I have tried many different programs and I have converted my files to different formats to try and make it work but all I end up with is a disk full of 1kb files that will only play back on my pc. I remember years ago this was a simple cut and paste, or drag and drop process but now I cant get it to work whatever I try. Im using xp sp2. Please help me, its diving me mad.

What Software are you using, and what type of 'burn to'format do you select.I use Nero and select 'burn an Audio disc' and this means that the disc will play on pretty much any cd device. If you select the burn to MP3 option, the disc will only play on MP3 compatible devices.

Im no expert, but if your files are only 1kb in size,I am fairly sure they are not music files.Perhaps they arte image files.

The 1kb files are for an audio CD only and are effectively similar to a short cut, this "should" play as a normal CD in a standard CD player or in your PC - have you tried a programme like nero / roxio that will allow you to make either a MP3 disc or Audio CD (The latter being the one that would show the 1kb files) - what programme are you using to make the CD ? as an example you can rip a CD with Windows media player into MP3 and then using nero , then burn a straightforward Audio CD or alternatlively theres a straight copy CD function with most of these programmes (which again would only show 1kb files (CDA file extensions?)
