I'm due to go on holiday tomorrow and I need to know if the battery would last a week without charge. It's going to be charging for the rest of today so would I be ok?

It depends how much you're going to be using it over the week...

Apple quote a figure of up to 14 hours. So I'd assume that the actual figure is really closer to 12 hours if you're turning it on and off sperodically. So if you only play it for about 12 hours in total over the week, then it should last.

Aah thats good. I was reading other peoples questions saying things like 'my battery only lasts an hour' and as i don't have a mains charger i was getting a bit scared. So thank you very much
Their quoted figure assumes that the equaliser, backlight and sound normaliser are all switched off, and that you just press play and leave it to play for 14 hours, or however long it lasts.

By using any of the above features, or skipping tracks, you will shorted the time that one full charge lasts for. But given the nano is solid state, it shouldn't be shortened all that much.
