The problem that you have is that you get what you pay for in respect to the quality of these new tv's. The technology and most likely the features in these tv's really do variey between the possible 100 pounds difference. The best ranges at the moment are samsung as the spec's are amazing for the price. I have to warn you the price of wall mounts arent cheap. I would surgest looking on ebay for one. A friend of mine bought a mount for a 40 inch for about 50 pounds on there and in my store they are perhaps 150. There are 3 kinds of mounts. Fixed being the cheapest, then tilt and finally the dearest cantaliever. when looking for a tv these are the main things to look for ...... 1) the pixels best to get 1366 or above but any more than 1366 will be very expensive. 2) the contrast ratio (thats the amount of colours in the picture between darkest to lightest) i Would say 5000 or above. 3) Digital (freeview built-in) even if you have sky or virgin now you may get rid of them in the future and you dont want to have to attach another box if you have it mounted. 4) HD ready (the picture quaility can be up to 1080p, the avarage tv without does about 400 so it iproves the image alot. 5) How many hdmi connections it has. These will eventually replace the scart connection so as many as possible.
I have got a 37 inch lcd so i really like lcd although plasma has a higher contrast ratio the lcd has longer screen life, less fragile and has less power consumption. You wont get as good a refresh rate on lcd but it is hardly noticable.
You are also not adviced to play games consoles on plasma as they are more likely to get screen burn (where a permant image is burned into the screen). so if gaming is you thing stay well clear. Even the manufacturers garantee doesnt cover that and for the price of the repair i would just buy another tv. Well hope that helps.
