personal emergency alarm system....??
NOT the ones that you pay for monthly and are connected to a network of carers and mergency services.
I want one that is a one off payment and that i can give to my elderly dad while he is alone at work and that can alert my brother who works at the other end of the street and sometimes in a van, or even alert all of us using more than one receiver device.
something like a pager type device?
or would it be possible to programme a pager to work only by pressing a button that will link automatically to all of our pagers?
he is old and we cannot have anything that he would have to learn to use - he can't, he'd forget.
thanks everyone.

what about a wireless doorbell? mine works at up to 100 feet. I guess you could get one with 2 dinger units, but that would mean you having to be within 100 feet. The community alarm that you are describing above MAY be suitable - i don't know if you know how they work - the emergency services arent summoned but when the pendant is pressed it goes through to a call centre. The person on the other end will speak to your dad via his telephone loudspeaker (your dad would not have to do anything except press the button) to ask if he is ok. If they get no response, or your dad says no then they call a keyholder - the keyholder can be anyone you want, yourself, your brother etc - and let them know your dad need assistance. Most community alarm systems are about 2-3 pounds a week, which is cheaper than buying a mobile
Alternitively, what about walkie talkies? They cover a good range and you only need press a button to talk
