Personally, yes I think they are (iPods in general, though the mini is the most rugged). Several on here would disagree though. But I love them!

Not only is it cheap, but it's DRM-free (download the mp3s or FLAC files).

I would strongly suggest NOT downloading from the iTunes Music Store, or most of the other online music stores. They package your music with DRM, Digital Restrictions Management, which stops you from being able to listen to your music how you want to.
